Windows Quick Start Guide

(System Area Manager)

This software is to be installed on the system that you wish to designate as a System Area Manager. You will be able to manage other systems by browsing to this system.

This system must have a static ip address since the other managed systems push data to the system running the System Area Manager software.

Requirements:
a)x86/x64 computer running a compatible operating system
b)A valid operating TCP/IP Network Adapter
c)The system must have a password for the Administrator account

The SyAM System Area Manager Software is a complete package, you will not be required to install any prerequisite software.

Please remove any other hardware monitoring utilities that you have installed on your system, as these may conflict with retrieving environmental data from your hardware.


Step 1

Download the software to the system you wish to install it on. Extract the zipped files to a directory on the system, go to that directory and run the executable installation program.


Step 2

Choose the language for the user interface and follow the installation instructions


Do not change the RMI port default value of 1099 unless you know that port number is already in use.


Step 3

Open up your web browser and enter the IP address or machine name of the system that you wish to configure followed by :3930 which is the SyAM web server port number


Remember to specify https if you selected SSL


Step 4

Enter a valid administrator level account user name and password for the system you are browsing to, or you can enter a domain administrator username and password if the system is in a Windows domain.



Step 5

Click on the Go button to Add Managed Systems.


a) Enter the IP Address of the system you installed the software on, enter the Location and function then press the 'Apply' button.


b) Add more systems up to your license key limits.

Step 6

Choose the Central Alert Matrix menu option



Step 7

Enter the email details on where you wish to be notified about any operational issues the software identifies





You're done, the software will now continually monitor all the systems that you are managing and alert you via email to any issue.

The software comes with a 15 day evaluation license key to manage a small number of systems. To continue past this period, or to manage a larger number of systems, simply obtain and upload a new license key. No software upgrade is required.

Remember you can access the System Area Manager user interface from anywhere across the network, all you need is a web browser.
